World and Background: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Fuuka_Yamagishi

Personality: Born to strict parents who felt inferior to their more financially successful family, Fuuka was pushed to be the perfect child; obedient, seen and not heard, polite, and of course to excel in school. Having no other options but be everything they wanted, she struggled to please them, being told how disappointed they were when she fell short. Not having the will or desire to rebel against them, Fuuka would simply bow her head, promising to do better.

By the time she reached junior high, her inability to stand up to her parents transferred into her being unable to speak up in class. Since her one motivator was to do well in school to ensure her parents love, she took no time to make friends. Besides polite small talk, Fuuka was completely out of her element when it came to interacting with others. She would watch girls whispering and giggling in the hallways, finding herself wishing she was one of them. In fact, she found herself wishing she was just about anyone else but herself. So, when she wasn't studying books, she was studying her classmates, learning more about them than they would have thought.

Due to her quiet nature and lack of friends, Fuuka became an easy target for bullies, and remained so up until her last years of high school. They would hide her shoes, leave her rude notes, tease her about her hair, her good grades, her stutter, anything and everything they could think of. In the beginning, she often went home crying, sometimes begging her parents not to make her go. But they never listened, telling her 'buck up' and focus on her work. It was in this time that the seed of determination was planted in her, though she wouldn't realize it for a long time.

Fuuka became accustomed to the bullying, shutting down whenever it happened and keeping her head down. Her new method also gave her a new insight into the individuals around her; she began to realize that they weren't bullying her because of anything she did. It was because of something going on within them, that they needed to hurt someone else to feel better. They didn't know how to handle someone different than them, or even doing better than them. By the end of her junior high years, though it hurt, she forgave the ones bullying her. She even wrote everyone in her class a farewell letter at graduation. They needed the kind words more than she did, she decided.

Despite her growing compassion, and slow burning determination to excel in life, her self confidence was almost non-existent. Between her even more critical parents and near constant bullying, Fuuka sometimes imagined what she was living for. When the bullying started anew in high school, she found her old method of 'shutting down and forgive' to be wearing thin. Especially when the bullying sometimes became physical; nothing serious, but enough to make her lie to her parents about bruises on her arms and legs. Though she continued to be top of her class, she began skipping school to avoid the bullies in question. At the peak of it all, she was locked in the gym overnight by a group of girls, becoming trapped in another dimension that housed monsters. Due to a power she had no idea about, she was able to sense them and avoid them before being rescued by a group of teenagers called SEES.

After that, they convinced her to join their team, which she jumped at the chance to do. Someone finally thought she was worthwhile just for being who she was. She worked hard to prove herself to them, at first acting more how she had observed others acting then actually being herself. But as time went on, and she began proving herself to be a large help to them and making friends, she realized her worth. She even became good friends with one of her former bullies.

Though she never actually fought the monsters, she aided her friends by telling them the weaknesses of the shadows, healing them, and sensing where the next big boss was. She had finally found a purpose that made her feel worth while. But at the end of the year, the leader of their group, one of her dear friends, sacrificed himself for them all. Having derived confidence from him, Fuuka was devastated. If it had not been for her new sense of confidence and more positive view on life, she probably would not have made it through. She has done everything she can to keep her other friends together as they are all she has left.

Though more confident in herself from a year ago, she remains very humble, often becoming flustered at compliments, still not used to receiving thm. In fact she becomes flustered whenever things become too awkward or too embarrassing for her. Or anyone else. Compassionate almost to a fault, she will help anyone in need, caring deeply for anyone who is hurt or upset. She has a stronger will now, and is no longer a push over, though still slow to anger. Put her friends in the line of fire, however, and she will be the first to defend them.

Abilities: She is able to summon a creature known as a persona called Juno, to detect enemy weaknesses, as well as the whereabouts of almost anyone, given Fuuka has some information about them. She also used Juno to fully heal her friends if they were in trouble, even though she was far away; this also meant she was able to communicate to them through Juno.

Before she realized her powers, she had almost a sixth sense, able to feel the presence of creatures called Shadows and avoid them. In a way, she is somewhat psychic, though not in the typical way most people think of.

Skills: A computer whiz, she has a way with technology, able to create various mechanisms on her own. Quite fond of taking things apart and putting them back together, she has a knack for repairs, though it's not something she speaks of often.
Weaknesses: Cooking has never been her strong suit, and for a long while it was bad enough to make people sick. Though has gotten somewhat better, her meals are bland at best. She hasn't given up, however, and continues to try new recipes almost every day.
